Deoksugung Palace, a must-see attraction in Korea

Known for its rustic stone walls – Deoksugung Palace, a must see in Korea

With the rapid development of our economy, more and more people are choosing to go abroad to see different landscapes during their holidays, and Korea, our neighbour, has become the first choice of destination. Many people are influenced by Korean film and television and have great expectations of Korea.

When it comes to Korea, the first thing that comes to mind for many people is Gyeongbokgung Palace and Cheong Wa Dae. But today I want to talk to you about something else. Today, I am going to talk about Deoksugung Palace. Deoksugung is also a very famous tourist attraction in Korea. It is known for its characteristic stone wall road, which is located on the left side of the main gate of Deoksugung Palace. There are many green trees along the road, which makes people feel very comfortable when walking along it.

The fact that Deoksugung Palace is still loved today is due to the story it carries with it. Deoksugung Palace was originally the private residence of Wol-san, the elder brother of King Seong-jong of Joseon, but it has been destroyed and repaired many times and is now a place where various national events are held in Korea. As you know, Deoksugung Palace is the only palace in Korea that combines Chinese and Western styles. Everyone can enjoy a completely different view from Deoksugung Palace. It is home to the earliest Western-style buildings in Korea, namely Jeonggwanheon and Seokjangjeon. As far as I know, Jeonggwanheon was built back in 1900. King Gojong was very fond of drinking coffee and relaxing here. The stone palace, which is located on the west side of the Deoksugung Palace, was built in marble without using a single piece of wood, which is an architectural miracle.

The main hall of Deoksugung Palace is the Junghwa Hall, where the ancient Korean ministers especially liked to hold some important events. On the roof of the main gate of the hall, two lifelike blue dragons are circling and living, which is very imperial, and this continues the typical Korean characteristics.

The Deoksugung Palace is a classic Korean attraction that has undergone several dynastic changes and bears a lot of history, witnessing the ups and downs of Korea, and is actually a place worth visiting.
