Travelogue – Eastern Europe
Compared to Western and Northern Europe, Eastern Europe’s economy is relatively less prosperous, and prices can be cut in half compared to Western Europe, making it a relatively cost-effective region to travel throughout Europe. This time we went to Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic. In fact, we visited the three most famous cities in these three countries, namely Prague, Vienna and Budapest.
These three cities have a very high concentration of attractions. As long as you live in the old city, you can take a taxi to the attractions and get there in ten minutes. You can choose to take a tourist double-decker bus, which is very popular in Europe, the bus route includes all the important attractions, you can get on and off as you like, because the top layer is open air, also perfect for taking pictures. In two or three days you will be able to get a thorough tour of a city, or a more leisurely and relaxed kind of play.
These three cities are not far apart, by train, two and a half to three hours drive. But I have to complain about the backwardness of this transportation system in Eastern Europe, the speed is very slow, not to mention that when buying tickets without 3 days in advance, you actually have to go to the train station to buy tickets, can not buy through the website, because the time sent over is not enough. Gosh, when in France and Switzerland are automatically generated on the website QR code directly on the train can scan the code. It is true that the lag in economic development still affects the degree of updating the equipment of such public facilities. In the domestic life is too convenient, to Europe is really to re-adapt to their so-called “slow pace” of life.
Prague is the only city in the whole of Europe that has not been destroyed by war bombardment. The entire ancient architecture is very well preserved.
The red roofs, copper-green church spires, and the sound of bells in the distance perfectly reflect the European style of the Habsburg period. Order a cup of coffee at the open-air cafe and watch the crowds of people taking pictures in the square, which is an unexpected feeling of being in the middle of it, but independent.
Vienna is known by Chinese people because of the Golden Hall, and of course Prague and Budapest are also important places of origin for Western classical music. We enjoyed a total of three formal performances during our entire trip. The most formal and impressive one was at the Golden Hall in Vienna.
We were in the chamber music trio of violin plus cello and piano that night, and the performance was so quiet that we even coughed during the short chapter break. We were seated in the middle of the room, and the dress code here is rather formal. Although we didn’t bring high heels, skirts, suits and other clothes, but it was winter, so we could still use sweaters and sneakers to get by. I am very impressed with these details, the love and respect of the Viennese people for music is reflected in such details.
Although the Golden Hall on the day of the performance was not covered with flowers as in the New Year’s Eve concert, the musical effect was not compromised in any way. The hall’s sound transmission is very good, because the whole hall is built with wood, and the wood has been very dry after hundreds of years of drying. At the same time there is a very high ceiling, the hall’s lower level, originally planned for a dance hall, but now has stopped using, is this unintentional design so that the Golden Hall like a guitar, has an echo system, the resonance effect has become very good. Although it is not the most perfect place for sound technology in the modern sense, I still feel the power of music in this hall. The violin was so exciting and clear, the cello bass was like a sob, I do not know much about music, but I also heard goose bumps are shivering. This has nothing to do with understanding, as long as the heart to experience it is good.
Travel is a great opportunity to see the world, we no longer sit at home and imagine other people’s lives and think that everything is better abroad. We also have their own more convenient way of life, when using Alipay, travel by high-speed rail, to be more grateful that we are in this era.
